The Carpenters 1973 visit to the Nixon White House
The Carpenters second visit to the White House, 1 May 1973. President Nixon requested the group to perform for visiting West German chancellor Willy Brandt.
This visit landed right in the heat of the Watergate scandal. Richard Carpenter would later comment that after Karen passed away, former President Nixon sent a handwritten letter to the family expressing his condolences.

Brooke appeared on The Morning Show and performed 'You're So Vain'. Unfortunately there wasn't much of an interview. Dave's there, though! Apparently Juliet dragged him up on stage.

Ticket To Ride & Intro - Carpenters 1972 'Live In Australia'
Переглядів 54 тис.16 років тому
Carpenters and their 1969 single 'Ticket To Ride' performed live. Also, Richard gives quite an interesting introduction into how the Carpenters produce their live sound as opposed to how it is created on their studio recordings... pretty cool. 1972. Great clip from an episode of Dharma & Greg entitled 'Wish We Weren't Here'. Pat Benatar appears as herself in the episode singing the Carpenters 'We've Only Just Begun' at an impromptu wedding being held in an airport. 'Love Is A Battlefield' is also partially sung near the end of the clip. Enjoy! Visit www.GoCarpenters.com to help induct the Carpenters into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

Grandiosaaaa!!!
Ze magic of tell lie vision!
Vietnamerica...
I saw Karen Carpenter sing and drum in 1972. Check out her doing a cover of the Beatles Help here on UA-cam--you will be amazed
This is the worst editing job ever! How can someone take such great footage & then chop it up in such a disjointed way? There’s a long stretch with no edits, other times there are edits every 2 seconds that cut off song passages in mid-phrase. Would love to see this video in the hands of an even halfway competent video editor.
Damn! Karen!!!❤
A solo? Not! FAKE!
She was great. *Shrug*. To deny it is lame.
AT AGE 20 KAREN BEGAN W/BROTHER RICHARD 4 yrs. OLDER AT A&M RECORDS L.A. CA! GOD'S GIFT TO THE WORLD IN TROUBLED TMIES - BLACK PANTHERS HATE & ACID ROCK RAGE, ALONG W/CAL BERKELEY COUNTER CULTURE > 'CARPENTERS' WERE ANOINTED & APPOINTED BY GOD TO TOUCH THE WORLD DEEPLY (THUS METEORIC RISE TO FAME & FORTUNE) ALL THROUGH 70'S.
Would have loved to see her and Sheila E today doing some drumming together
Amazing and in the best Decade of all times , The 60’s
Ricky Nelson was a heart throb in my preteen years.
All talent in the world she was fantastic
Is that John Denver?
She’s good ❤😍
What a sad loss What other future songs did we miss out on One of the best singers in the world
Karen Carpenter was the best on the drums 🥁 And singer She was beautiful too RIP sweetheart ❤❤❤🙌👑🙏📖➕️🥁
彼女はドラムがたたけるボーカリストじゃなくて、歌がめちゃくちゃ上手いジャズドラマーだったんだなぁ…
I can't believe you cut off her play on 'Dancin' in the Streets' her best drumming ever recorded!
Dude she’s a fucking wild drum player
Nobody dared to say tHAT SHE WAS A TERRIBLE DRUMMER.
Wow! Spectacular vocals and piano.
What a beautiful sole. Amazing glow!
🤘
She was damn near flawless as a musician. Her percussion was almost too perfect (sometimes the music's in the imperfection). And now that pitch analysis software is ubiquitous, people can see that she may have had the most perfect pitch of any recorded singer ever. Her untimely and tragic death was a cultural catastrophe.
Wonderful!!!!!
She was a great percussionist!
Im very impressed should of been in a female rock chick group.😊
Karen took justifiable pride in her drumming because she CHOSE that instrument herself, and WORKED HARD to master it. Much as we all loved her magnificent voice, that was a GIFT from GOD. I don't believe that Karen ever felt that she could take credit for her voice...
Awesome!!!
WOW, I had not idea she was a talented and super serious percussionist. WOW
Karen was my motivation to try being a drummer who sang. I became a guitar player the following year, but it was knowing she could do this that nudged me forward.
There were people who knew her when she was young who said Karen was gay. But things were very different back then. It was not accepted or talked about. And she so wanted to please her family. Maybe Karen would still be alive if she was able to be her true self whoever that was and not try to conform or please everyone but herself.
I think you have to practice striking by using a hammer to learn drums like a carpenter.
As a bass player, I was in a few female bands back in the day (novelty) we played hard rock) unusual back then. Anyway, my then drummer was a little thing and had a thirty piece drum kit. She loooved Karen Carpenter, who was hugely behind why she took up drums… I am ashamed to admit, back then I didn’t have a clue how talented Karen was, being as I was into hard rock. It was a while after she passed that I watched some of her vids and realized she was a “beast” on the drums 🔥🩵 her voice and chops are/were timeless!
Genious, great artist
Would have been funny if she got on those concert to s and played the drum break from “In the air tonight” by Phil Collins. Lol
It’s too bad she had to carry her brother, she could have done so much more!
I want that clear kit and those clear concert Tom’s!
She's mesmerising. A voice from heaven, probably the best female drummer of all time, and a smile that lit up the world. Her music and voice cant help but put you in a good mood. What a legend, what a treasure
I saw her sing and drum in 1972 --blew me away. She broke the glass ceiling. In L.A. a young black girl who would become known as Sheila E. saw her sing and drum on TV and thought I could do that. A girl named Sheryl Crow wanted a guitar as a present . Told by her parents it was not lady like, she pointed out Karen Carpenter played the drums --she got the guitar.
カレンカーペンターズドラム素敵❤
that funny I did not know pat bentra
A vocal coach will say the money's in the basement.
2024 attendence here✨
golden girl
I reluctantly confess that I didn't pay much attention to the Carpenters. Nothing against them, just that all I knew were the AM radio hits, which were fine, but hardly where you're likely to find how truly talented she was. Thank gods for UA-cam.
Wow. Awesome 👍🏿
Her mum tryed toout do her on her wedding day
